Vlogging seems to be all the talk at social media conferences and events. That's because these days posting video on your website is easier than you think and a big tool for driving traffic to your website.
Work/Life Balancing Act columnist Cindy Krischer Goodman passes along these vlogging tips from Molly Gold (www.gomominc.com), Becky Woodworth (Social Media Senior Strategy Manager at AT&T) and Jendi Pagano (http://simplevloggingtips.com), speakers at the recent SheStreams conference in Fort Lauderdale.
- Setting is important. Think about this before you get started filming your video. You background can be part of your style. A general rule is simpler is better.
- A video should be about 1 to 2 minutes. People today have short attention spans.
- You don’t need fancy equipment to make a quality video. Many vloggers are using their iPhones.
- There are a variety of video editing programs for Macs and PCs such as iMovie or Windows Movie Maker. YouTube has a video editing program that works well. You can upload to You Tube right from your smartphone.
- Consider having a branded YouTube channel.
- You can load video directly to your Facebook page using the same button that you use to upload a photo.
- If you don’t want to appear in the video, you can use a series of photos with a voiceover.
- When you load your video to YouTube, you can mark it private until you are finished editing and ready to post.
