FashInvest coming to Miami; entrepreneurs can apply to present

April 01, 2014·Nancy Dahlberg

FashinvestlogoFor the first time in its 5-year history, FashInvest has selected Miami to be a host city for one of its major events in its annual series of venture capital and entrepreneurial conferences held throughout the year.  FashInvest will be hosting the FashInvest Miami Capital Conference at the Miami International University of Art and Design, on May 14, 2014 from 12 p.m.-8p.m.

FashInvest will feature the exciting fashion-tech startup and fashion communities within Miami and surrounding region.  In addition, FashInvest will be featuring stories on the region’s emerging startup and venture community on its daily FashInvest website.

Last year, Miami entrepreneur Dawn Dickson, founder of Flat Out of Heels, was selected to pitch at a FashInvest event in New York, and was so impressed by the conference and experience she worked to bring it to Miami.  "It is a great opportunity for fashion related business to connect with capital resources," she said.

The 2014 FashInvest Miami Capital Conference offers entrepreneurs, financiers, operating executives and service providers the opportunity to gather, network and exchange ideas in a half-day event format focused on opportunities within the Fashion-Tech, E-commerce, Branded Goods, Retail and Fashion Industries.

The Capital Conference will feature up to 25 selected, vetted and coached startups presenting their opportunities, in a quick pitch format with the goal of fostering strategic partnering and growth opportunities. “We see Miami as one of the four great cities for technology and its combination with fashion in the United States among New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco,” said David J. Freschman, managing principal of Innovation Ventures, a regional venture capital firm, and CEO and founder of FashInvest. “Since the beginning of FashInvest we’ve had over 200 companies participate and pitch who have collectively gone on to raise in excess of $150 million. FashInvest has selected Miami because of its unique positioning as an innovation and technology leader coupled with its world-class higher education system fostering a strong entrepreneurship and startup environment. Miami is also uniquely positioned as the link between United States and Latin and South American entrepreneurs and opportunities.”
