In an interview, Manny Medina, founder of eMerge Americas, shared advice on what not to miss Monday and Tuesday at the Miami Beach Convention Center:
"Check out the emerging technologies that will be presented. I hate to pick speakers because I think all the content is great but we have some phenomenal speakers and it depends on your interests. But Deepak Chopra, everyone is going to be incredibly motivated by his address... Martine Rosenblatt, the highest paid female CEO, has an incredible story and shouldn't be missed.
"We're going to ringing the closing [stock market] bell on Monday. I will have a follow up to my chat with Pitbull last year, and I think that will be entertaining as well. WIT [Women, Innovation and Technology summit] has pretty phenomenal content.
" With so many countries exhibiting this year, there will be a mini EPCOT center. All of these countries -- from the Netherlands to UAE to Israel and of course Latin America -- have been promoting to their startup ecosystems to come to eMerge.
"People around the world are thinking 'Miami-innovation-technology.'
Updated: In remarks to the press on Monday morning, Medina said attendance will be well over the expected 10,000. Participating are from about 50 companies and 500 companies, from startup to mega-companies. "The momentum has been overwhelming," said Medina. He said he never thought we would have this much momentum in year 2, crediting in part the 147 million reach of NBCUniversal stations. eMerge has an exclusive partnership with NBCUniversal.
"As the CEO of a Nasdaq-related company (Terremark), I never got to ring the bell, now I will."
