Resources for Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs

February 14, 2012·Nancy Dahlberg

Broward SCORE and Hispanic Unity, two local nonprofits, are teaming up to give business workshops and counseling to Broward’s Hispanic community.

Broward SCORE will give a free workshop the second Saturday of every month in Spanish. The workshop — called Starting your Own Business? An Introduction to What You Will Need — will be from 10:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hispanic Unity, 5840 Johnson St. in Hollywood.

People who want more in-depth information on launching a business -- including on financing, marketing strategy and business planning -- can sign up for the series called Simple Steps for Starting Your Business, also in Spanish. The five session sessions will be offered periodically.

For more information about these workshops, call Hispanic Unity at 954-342-0424.

Evolution Women, an organization which aims to help women start their own business, will be hosting a series of seminars in Spanish: “The New Entrepreneurial Woman.”

The two-part series will take place 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 18 and Feb. 25 at Sistema Universitario Ana G. Méndez, 3520 Enterprise Way, Miramar. Cost to attend is $40 per day. The ticket includes lunch, childcare and a course completion certification.
