UberPITCH bringing venture capital on demand to Miami on Wednesday

December 08, 2015·Nancy Dahlberg 12/08/2015

UberIn partnership with Rokk3r Labs, Venture Hive and Florida Funders, Uber is bringing UberPITCH to Miami startups during Miami Techweek.

The unique partnership will help local startups overcome one of the biggest obstacles to success – access to venture capital – by delivering potential investors on demand through the Uber app on Wednesday, December 9.

A prize will also be awarded to the top pitch courtesy of Rokk3r Labs: The entrepreneur’s choice of either a $5,000 cash prize or an invitation to participate in Rokk3r Labs' exclusive Think Phase program for startups ($25,000 value).

For investors who would like to practice their pitch in advance of UberPITCH, Venture Hive hosts a special, free-of-charge “pitch class” for entrepreneurs led by Roberto Interiano on Tuesday, December 8.

How UberPITCH works:

* Riders can enter the MIAPITCH promo code in the Uber app to unlock the opportunity from 11 AM - 3 PM on Wednesday, December 9

* UberPITCH vehicles will be available throughout Miami-Dade

* If connected, an Uber driver partner will pick the rider up, give them 15 minutes to ride with, and pitch, a potential investor, then drop the rider off at their pick up location. Demand is expected to be high and riders are encouraged to keep checking the app for the next available UberPITCH vehicle.

“Uber is proud to call Miami home and especially to be part of the thriving start-up community here," says Kasra Moshkani, General Manager for Uber South Florida. “We’re thrilled to bring PITCH to Miami’s entrepreneurs – and even more excited that we’ve partnered with Rokk3r Labs to offer the participants the chance to win a $5,000 investment or access to Rokk3r’s groundbreaking Think Phase program.”
