"BarCamp was an integral part of how I got started in #MiamiTech from making close, industry friends to even landing my first web development job." - David Small (@mrdazm)

"Barcamp is the grassroots Emerge Americas: much more local participation with 100% less cost." - Ed Toro (@eddroid)

"Barcamp is a fantastic way for everyone who has always wanted to participate in the community to connect with others." - Brian Breslin (@brianbreslin)

Back for its 6th edition later this month, BarCamp Miami is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees.

It’s not your traditional talking heads technology conference. Everyone is expected to participate in some way: by giving a talk, asking questions, or organizing a session.

BarCamp fosters collaboration and innovation -- matching technologists with designers, with engineers, and with angel investors. The event brings people together who understand what new technology means for Miami’s future.

Miami will celebrate the 10th global anniversary of BarCamp on March 28 with an all-day “unconference” at the Miami Ad School.

Some highlights: The event will feature a News & Media Innovation Track hosted by FIU School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Hacks / Hackers, and the Knight Foundation. The after-party, hosted at The Stage Miami, will feature a “Lightning Round” of 3-minute startup pitches as demos.
