BarCamp is an international network of innovators who have created a new forum of user-generated conferences — open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants — often focusing on early-stage web applications and related open source technologies, social media, and open data formats. More 200 than people have already signed up for BarCampMiami at: http://barcampmiami12.eventbrite.com/
The first BarCamp was in 2005 in Palo Alto, Calif., but BarCamp’s innovative format has quickly spread to more than 50 cities around the world, in North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Australasia and Asia.
BarCamp Miami is a free-wheeling discussion of new products, services and ideas. It brings people together who understand what new technology means for Miami’s future. BarCamp fosters collaboration- matching technologists with designers, with engineers, and with angel investors and venture capitalists.
It’s not your traditional talking heads technology conference. Everyone is expected to participate in some way: by giving a talk, asking questions, or organizing a session. All participants are encouraged to share information and experiences about BarCamp Miami through blogging, podcasting, photo blogs, social-bookmarking, wiki-ing and word of mouth.
BarCamp Miami will be held Feb. 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Miami Dade College, Wolfson campus, Building 3, second floor, Alex says. Admission is free. For more information, contact Alex at alex@barcampmiami.org
