More than two dozen events are coming to South Florida for this week's Social Media Week, and starting Friday Feb. 17 for Miami Tech Week (that one's really 10 days and counting), including the two-day SuperConf at Miami Beach Convention Center. That conference, organized by Austin Bunsen, is awarding $26,000 to presenting companies and has brought down an impressive list of Silicon Valley and New York tech entrepreneurs and investors to speak and judge. But Susan Amat of The Launch Pad points out in today's column that the real benefit of gatherings like SuperConf as well as events like BarCamp, Wordcamp, CodeCamp and Dell Tech Summit, is the networking, whether you are an entrepreneur looking for top tech talent or the talent looking for a great project or team to join. She offers a primer today on getting yourself in shape for these events -- questions to ask and factors to consider when considering hiring or teaming up with a developer. Read her column here.
By the looks of the growing list of events at Miami Tech Week and a half -- compiled by the largest group of all, Refresh South Florida, there won't be much time for work.
And if that is not enough, Social Media Week starts today, Feb. 13, with a week of live streaming events from around the world, as well as in the 305 and 954. Find the events here.
And here is a new resource: Susan says The Launch Pad is accepting applications for the Launch Pad Tech program, aimed at educating and supporting professional skill development for coders. Visit here for more information.
