Projects from the upcoming University of Miami Interactive Media show that will appear December 18 at 7 p.m. at The LAB Miami.
Graduate students in the Interactive Media Master of Fine Arts program at the University of Miami School of Communication will present their first end-of-semester show Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m. at The LAB Miami. Admission is free and all are welcome.
The event will showcase a set of interactive prototypes built in Physical Computing and Programming for Designers courses. The projects feature various interactions between physical and digital worlds including games, musical instruments, interactive art and data visualizations.
The prototypes were built using Processing, a programming language particularly good for visualizing information and for data interaction, and Arduino, an open-source platform based on a single-board microcontroller to control a host of DIY projects.
The Interactive Media program at the University of Miami aims to prepare a new generation of innovators and leaders in the field of interaction design. Its mission is to explore the use of technology, design, human behavior, and their impact on communication.
"We expect it to be a lively night full of inspiration and interesting interactive projects," said Associate Professor Kim Grinfeder, director of the program.
