| | | --- | | Details of Florida Atlantic University's Business Plan Competition: Florida Atlantic University’s 2012 Business Plan Competition’s final round, two-day event will take place on April 12-13 at the College of Business, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. The competition provides an opportunity for participants to compete and test their business ideas. More than 215 teams have registered for the competition, up from 165 teams last year, with 20 teams advancing to the final round events. The participants will compete for a share of more than $200,000 in cash and prizes, including the high school student track winner’s prize of a full four-year scholarship to FAU. Final round participants from the high school track will compete on April 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. in BU 120 in FAU’s College of Business. The student and entrepreneur track will present their business plans to venture capital principals, early-stage angel investors, successful entrepreneurs and senior business leaders on April 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in room BU 120 and room OD 101 in FAU’s Office Depot Center. FAU alumnus Manuel Medina ‘78, chairman and CEO of Medina Capital Partners, will provide the keynote address on April 13 from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. in room BU 120 in FAU’s College of Business. This event is open to students, faculty, staff and the public. Medina leads an investment firm focused on funding technology companies with innovative products that serve the private and public sectors. Medina has more than 30 years of experience as a successful businessman with expertise in areas including technology, finance, international business, and government contracting.
