Open English’s Andres Moreno will headline Tech Cocktail Miami’s first Session event, scheduled for May 1 at Venture Hive, Tech Cocktail’s Community Manager Camila Souza said this week. Moreno, who started Open English with $700, now has more than 2,000 employees and has raised $120 million in venture capital for his company, an online English language school offered throughout Latin America and beyond.
“For the Sessions, the goal is to shine a light on great entrepreneurial and startup activity that's happening in Miami and around the country. The chats will be led by [Tech Cocktail founder] Frank Gruber and we hope to have local entrepreneurs from various industries, not only tech,” she said.
Tech Cocktail Miami will be holding seven events this year. Two or three will be Startup Showcases with the rest being Sessions, Souza said. Find out more about the first event here.
The Session events will offer another opportunity to hear about the entrepreneurial journeys and success stories of local entrepreneurs. Brainfood has been running events for a few months now at The LAB Miami that feature interviews and Q&A time with entrepreneurs including Hans Hickler, Hugh MacLeod, Jose Vargas and Maurice Ferre. On April 15, Albert Santalo of CareCloud will be featured.
