Apparently it’s not just me -- lots of people can't keep track of their keys.
Miami native and FIU alumni Joaquin Prendes recently started Blue Ring Technologies and launched a crowdfunding campaign on kickstarter.com. The new company was in search of $3,500 to fund its first product, a keychain finder, and planned to use the funds to help produce its first 100 units.
Prendes, a software engineer, developed the Jayster keychain, a
Bluetooth-powered device that helps people find and track misplaced items. Once
your phone and keychain are connected, the alarm feature sounds an alarm so you
can hear where your lost keys are. The hot/cold feature indicates whether you
are getting closer or farther away from your missing keys. And the nest feature
wirelessly attaches your phone to your Jayster keychain -- If the two separate
more than 15-20 feet, an alarm will ring, preventing you from losing your
phone.
The Kickstarter campaign is off to an impressive start, already raising over $6,500 in two weeks -- nearly double what Prendes gad sought. The campaign ends Sept. 13, 2013, and the company expects to begin shipping Jayster keychains to customers in October 2013.
